The only reason I build Awtoes is that they're easy - The brief is, "Use as much as you can from the car kit (and a computer mouse for the nose)". And because they have an oval cross-section, as if I'd actually crafted parts to make the overall shape. And because it's the closest I can get to an SF3D (aka Ma.K) without using putty.
In this particular case I didn't do stripes like the Japal and all of last year's Awtoes, but panels. Painting this one was almost theraputic. I'd pick a color, then drybrush it all over. Next day, rinse, lather, repeat. At one point after a vaguely purple/red color I masked-off panels - Then it was back to a color-a-day.
